American classical crossover star
As the youngest solo artist to ever go platinum, we were excited to be asked to rebrand and build a website for the American classical crossover star, Jackie Evancho. Understanding the primary objective was showcasing the singer’s story and work, we concentrated our efforts on showcasing the vocalist’s personality as more approachable. Her camp was also looking to rebrand the artist to make her more appealing across age groups. We created an aesthetic that is fresh and sleek and carried this aesthetic across the website tying together a narrative of Jackie’s progression as a star and career musician.

The branding

Logo
Clear about the main communication goals of her website, the client expected her new website clearly portray her newly styled brand expressing her personality in a straightforward way that would exude a certain softness. To achieve this, we generated a signature that personified the Jackie character, a design simultaneously strong and sweet. The cutesy, heart-shaped dot of the “i” in her name embodied the softness she was looking for.
Typeface
To create the personal signature-inspired logo for Jackie, we used the handwritten typeface Sacramento, that highlights the soft, youthful freshness that is the spirit of the singer. We opted for a classic, very easy to read, sans-serif font, Open Sans, in combination with a sans-serif decorative title and header typeface, Josefin Sans, to create a good balance on contrasts. This light-hearted combination creates a soft and playful text design.

Colour scheme
We worked with an off-grey pink as the accent colour for small titles and visual effects throughout the site. In combination, we used dark grey and white to create contrast and give pages a more neutral look and feel, making sure to avoid falling into portraying the star as overly feminine and childish. Instead, the website exudes a youthful confidence that is hovering between edgy and sweet.
